The 80 Year-Old Olympics

What do you want to be able to do when you are 80? Getting old is one thing but getting old and not being able to do what you want is a whole other thing. How can we live today and from now on in a way that gives us the best chance to see our grandkids, play pickleball, and increase our healthspan in a way that matters to us and our familes. Check out Peter Attia’s book Outlive to dive deeper into this idea.
Check this out: Busy Dad Workout - There is so much stuff out there on what to do. Don’t overthink it, just do something for 5 minutes a day and snowball that into more. Put in a prompt to ChatGPT and say “I need a weekly workout I do in my garage with a mat and 2 weights…..” It will make it for you and you can get started. You can’t wait dad!
Cook This: Soup Season

Just like the muffin game we need a few soups that we can make all the time with little effort and thought. Tomato, lentil, and chili. Start there and try to have those ingredients in your house all the time. Try an instantpot or crockpot before you go to work so it is done when you get back. Buid your soup repertoire dad!
Dad Fun - Take a kid to vote. Know who is running for district judge.

Taking a kid to the voting booth is an education in so many things. I took my son to the booth for early voting and he had 20 questions about the process, the candidates, and the parties that were listed. It made me think about how much I actually know about the process and who is running. I need to work on being an informed citizen so that my kids can do the same. Take advantage of these real life opportunities to learn.
Dad Magic: Switch Witch

What do you do with all this candy? My one thought is to let them eat it all and barf. That would change their mind about candy at least for a while. I actually don’t want to clean up the puke. The switch witch is something you can make your own. Like the tooth fairy for Halloween. Have your kids put out their candy at night and trade it for money or coupon that you make up for the batting cages or for a trip to Dairy Queen. Anything is better than watching them eat nerd clusters for the next six month.
This newsletter is not professional in nature but intended to be real things to try. They won’t all work but this is a process and I’d love for you to join me on the way. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you next week.
